George and Lennie's broken dream

The last couple parts Of Mice and Men was very action pact. In part 5, Lennie was in the barn with Curley’s wife. They were talking for a while when she let Lennie touch her hair, “ Here-feel right her.” (90) Lennie kept stroking her hair harder and harder. Then he put his hand over her mouth. She pulled away and she broke her neck. Lennie knew he had done something bad so he ran to hide in the secret place that George made for him. In part 6, George found Lennie in the hiding space. He had to kill Lennie. It was kind of like the mercy kill for Candy’s dog. In George’s mind he was doing Lennie a favor. He thought of something that Lennie would like. So he started talking about their dream, and then out of the blue George pulled the trigger which killed Lennie. This also killed their dream because George can never do it without Lennie.

Do you guys think it was another type of mercy kill?
