Crooks and Lennie Relationship
In part 4, while George went to town Lennie stayed at the ranch with Crooks. At first Lennie went into Crooks' room and tried to make friends with Crooks. Since Crooks is different he has his own room. Crooks scolds Lennie for being in his room, "' This here is my room. Nobody got any right in her but me.'"(68). Crooks tells Lennie how he his not wanted in the bunkhouse to play cards because he is black. After Crooks and Lennie have been talking for a while Crooks finally invites Lennie in to sit. Crooks tells Lennie that George might not come back from town because he went to town for an excuse to get away from Lennie, since Lennie has mental issues. Lennie gets mad at Crooks for saying that and stands up and starts going toward Crooks. Crooks gets scared so he says, "' I din't mean to scare. He'll come back.'" (73). After that, Crooks tells Lennie how that he is lonley. Personally, I think that Lennie and Crooks became friends in this part of the book.
